Treble12Challenge #3 – Keep on walking

On Sunday the 25th of March I will be walking from Stirling Castle to Edinburgh Castle. This is a distance of about 40 miles and of course is going to take around 12 Hours to complete.

As with many of my challenges this year I will be accompanied by various different people of various different levels of fitness and sporting backgrounds.

On this challenge I will be accompanied the whole way by my younger sister Suzanna. She may not be the most sporting of people but I know for a fact she has the determination and will power to complete the challenge.

This is going to be the furthest distance I have ever walked in my life in one go and as much as im confident about completing the walk in curious to see how my body and feet fell about the whole thing afterwards, especially at work the next morning!

Walking is good for you we all know this so here are some fun facts for you;

Walking is one of the simplest and safest aerobic exercise you can do. It will help you strengthen your bones, control your weight, and condition your heart and lungs

On average, every minute of walking can extend your life by 1.5 to 2 minutes. That’s about a 2 for 1 trade-off!

Walking an extra 20 minutes each day will burn off 7 pounds of body fat per year

Walking provides the following benefits:

Improves efficiency of your heart and lungs

Burns body fat

Increases your energy

Reduces levels of cholesterol in your blood

Lowers high blood pressure

Helps control and prevent diabetes

Anyway to quote the famous saying “It’s good to walk”
